Where is the Pennsylvania Driver’s Manual located?

The Pennsylvania Driver’s Manual is available in both English and Spanish and is also referred to as PUB 95. Access the manual online at http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/drivers_manual/pa_driversman.shtml.

Is there a website that will help me study for the Knowledge Test?

You can find helpful study tools at http://www.quia.com/de/.

How long until my PA learner’s permit expires?

Your PA learner’s permit expires exactly a year after it is issued.

Do I have to retake any tests if I want to renew my PA learner’s permit?

Not if it’s your first or second time renewing. You will only be charged a small fee. If your permit expires for a third time, or you’ve had your permit for 3 years, you should refer to the PA Driver’s Manual for next steps.

Where is the road test located?

Information regarding the location of your road test can be found on www.dmv.state.pa.us.

How long will the road test take?

The road test will last approximately 15 minutes.

What is involved in the road test?

There are 4 parts to the road test. You’ll need to know how certain controls on your vehicles work and you’ll also be asked to parallel park. Your actual road test will come next, and then you’ll be asked to park in an actual parking spot. That will conclude the test as a whole.

Will some facilities offer less intense road tests than others?

This is all dependent on the location of the facility. Rural areas and small towns will have less congestion, so your experience may be different than a more densely populated area. Keep in mind that your test will always include things like stop signs, turns, and differences in speed, so you should always be prepared regardless of your location.

How long does it take to receive my license after passing the road test?

You’ll receive your license immediately after passing your road test. You’ll be able to decide whether or not you want to be an organ donor and you’ll also be able to list your political affiliation. Be sure to have your social security number handy as well.

When am I able to take the road test again after failing?

You must wait 7 days to retake your test if you’re under 18. If not, you simply just make another road test appointment as soon as you can.
